Algorius Net Viewer 6.3 — now with WMI Browser!
We are glad to inform you about the release of new Algorius Net Viewer version 6.3.
New features in 6.3 version basically enhance current functionality and make the application operation even more convenient and user-friendly. The key novelty is WMI Browser — another one tool for network administrator, available in Algorius Net Viewer.
WMI (Windows Management Instrumentation) is the Windows management tool. It provides the detailed data about workstation hardware and software. List of provided data is almost unlimited – it includes data on installed software, hardware and its current state, launched processes and services, various statistics and lots more.
WMI is based on object-oriented principle, so all OS data are presented as objects (instances) and its properties and methods. There are various types of the objects – they are called classes.
All classes are grouped into namespaces. WMI has one root namespace called Root, which has several namespaces of the lower level. The basic ones are: CIMv2, Default, Security, WMI. Special WQL (WMI Query Language) language is used to address WMI object. WQL is a subtype of SQL language.
With WMI browser you can browse WMI classes in various namespaces, instances of these classes, values of its properties. It is possible to execute WQL queries and have the derived data displayed. You can browse data both from local workstation and remotely.
WMI browser significantly simplifies the configuration of WMI scanning method due to automation of namespace selection and development of WQL query.
Following devices are added into standard collection:
Algorius Net Viewer now contains more than a hundred types of supplied devices.
Reports generation period
Now you can specify the exact period for the generation of reports and charts. Setup of this period is really flexible: you can generate the reports from specified time to current time, specify the exact from-to period, specify the relative time interval (e.g. today, yesterday, for current week etc.).
Enhancements of Web-interface
Map display and scrolling is enhanced in the Web-interface. Following items are also displayed now: overall device amount on a map, number of devices in the specific state (active, inactive, warning), number of active notification events (information, warning, error, alarm).
Enhanced display of ports and interfaces
Now ports and interfaces along with port name show the parent device. E.g. 'Server1.LAN1'. Changes are performed everywhere where ports and interfaces are displayed: reports, search, notification, device description etc.
